The New Drink of Summer – Fruit Waters!

July 29th, 2010

Throughout Latin America, one of the favorite beverages year round is fruit water. These refreshing drinks are as surprisingly delicious as they are healthy.

These are so popular that they are served in pitchers for the table to share family style. They are also sold by the glass out of huge pickle jars in the markets. It’s like a healthy version of Kool-Aid, and very refreshing. The most popular flavors are watermelon and melon!

Served in our personalized acrylic glasses and pitcher, this will be a personal, colorful, unique addition to any summer meal or backyard barbecue! Delicious!

Watermelon Water

  • 1 ½ c diced watermelon (no rind, but the seeds are ok!)
  • 5 c water
  • ¼ c sugar or equivalent of other non-sugar sweetener

Put the diced watermelon in the blender with 2 cups of the water and blend until the black seeds break up (about 1-2 minutes.) Let the ground seeds and pulp settle to the bottom, then pour the liquid into a pitcher, leaving the seeds in the blender. Add the remaining water and sugar, and stir well. Chill before serving. Enjoy!

Melon Water

  • ½ cantaloupe (seeds and rind removed)
  • 4 c water
  • ¼ c sugar or equivalent of other non-sugar sweetener

Prepare as above, realizing that this will be just a little thicker and pulpier by nature of the melon!
